Green or blue light phototherapy for neonates with hyperbilirubinaemia.
A total of 262 neonates were treated with green (350-650 nm) or blue (300-600 nm) light phototherapy for a similar length of time. There was no significant difference in the rate of bilirubin photodegradation between the groups.
متن کاملLight transmission of phototherapy eyeshields.
Twelve types of phototherapy eyeshields showed peak light transmission of less than 0.1%, and none transmitted greater than 0.04% light in the 460 nm spectral region. Commercial eyeshields offered no advantage over locally made ones. The choice of shield may be less important than how it is secured over the infant's eyes.
متن کاملUneven distribution of light in standard phototherapy.
Maldistribution of light is a potential cause of phototherapy failure in the neonate. Differences in light intensity over the surface can be measured with a radiometer as this detects the radiant energy impinging on the incubator mattress. An infant nursed on the front third of the mattress receives less than 40% of the maximal light incident on the centre of the mattress, and consequently degr...
متن کاملPhototherapy with turquoise versus blue light.
Preterm jaundiced infants were treated by phototherapy with a new turquoise fluorescent lamp. This was more effective in reducing plasma total bilirubin in relation to light irradiance than the ubiquitously used blue fluorescent lamp.
متن کاملLight transmission measurements and phototherapy eyepatches.
The transmission characteristics of phototherapy eyeshields have been measured under conditions that mimic the clinical situation. Peak transmission (less than 10%) was detected at 700 nm for the poorest patch tested and less than 2% for either of the other patches examined. The optics of measurement systems are considered with reference both to this and previous studies of light transmission t...
